Stand Up For Democracy

The Stand Up For Democracy neighborhood pop-up protests are a familiar and inspiring presence across New Orleans. What began quietly, with two groups separately demonstrating on Carrollton and on Napoleon, grew into a city-wide movement. One neighborhood sparked another, and soon the protests spread organically across town. These pop-ups exist to fill the space between large, scheduled demonstrations. They keep the fire alive when headlines fade. By showing up again and again, the protestors remind their communities that no one is alone in caring about democracy.

What’s the Plan?

The chaos out of the White House is meant to overwhelm us. Our antidote is community. Join Indivisible co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin every Thursday at 2pm to break down the week’s biggest political stories, answer your questions, and map out strategies for taking action.

This is people-powered politics in real time. Questions can be submitted via the Q&A function during the live event.

Fund Communities, Not Chaos Phone Bank

Virtual, Tuesday, May 12, 1:30–3:30pm

Republicans in Congress are trying to pour billions more taxpayer dollars into ICE and Border Patrol’s already bloated budgets to supercharge Trump’s mass deportation machine. Instead of passing commonsense and popular reforms to rein in these violent and corrupt agencies and redirect funding to basic needs like healthcare and housing for families struggling to make ends meet, Republicans want to shower Trump’s secret police with over $70 billion to continue terrorizing our communities with no accountability. They’re counting on their constituents being too distracted and demoralized by the daily onslaught of awful Trump news to realize what Republicans are doing in Congress and take action before it’s too late.

That’s where we come in. Join us to make calls to voters in key states and encourage them to call their Republican Members of Congress and demand they ensure our taxpayer dollars go directly to funding our communities, not to tearing families apart and locking them up in “warehouses” for human beings.

A short phonebanking training will be included at the beginning of each phonebank, so both first-time dialers and phonebank pros are welcome to join. Be sure to have both a computer and a phone so that you can make calls to voters.

Paid for by Indivisible Project. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee.

Good Trouble Launch Call

Thursday May 14th 6–7pm

In this recent ruling, SCOTUS essentially authorized partisan gerrymandering to override Black voters’ right to meaningful representation, erasing decades of progress in a single ruling. People fought, bled, and died for these protections. The Court has dismissed those sacrifices with the stroke of a pen. But this fight is far from over. While they are trying to strip away our voice, we still do have the right to vote and we need to continue to vote and make our voices heard.
